Thrive On This

Greetings Thrive Tribe,

Welcome to the new newsletter.

I hope your week has been amazing. Mine sure has. Quick update from me... I recently moved my life to Brooklyn, NYC after my partner and I made the mutual decision to live and work here for the next four months. This has led me to think a lot about change, and the art of flowing with it, rather than resisting against it. Way easier said than done, right? :)

The essence of all physical existence IS change. Nothing is constant. So when we resist change, we are resisting life. When we resist life, we invariably invite frustration and suffering into our lives. What I am working on now is continuing to become better at the art of allowing, embracing and moving with change... Letting it be a vehicle for excitement and freshness in my life.

Ted Talk to Thrive On - Ted Talk on the power of vulnerability

This powerful Ted Talk by human connection researcher, Brené Brown, is a funny, yet thought provoking insight into the power of vulnerability.

Below is an excerpt from the talk:

"Here's the thing. I'm struggling (she says to her therapist). I have a vulnerability issue and I know vulnerability is the core of shame and fear and our struggle for worthiness, but it appears it is also the birthplace of joy, of creativity, of belonging, of love."

Website I am loving - James Clear's book summaries

Book Summaries: Popular Books Summarized in 3 Sentences or Less.

Short book summaries with the option to read a longer summary.

A great way to pick and choose books you might want to purchase and read.

New product to Thrive On - Swapples

I only discovered these amazing treats a few weeks ago... And since then they've been draining my bank account, one box at a time. Swapples are a nourishing swap for regular waffles. They are plant based and gluten free with a short list of healthy ingredients (yuca root, blueberries, coconut oil, coconut sugar, sea salt, blueberry extract). Swapples were invented by founder Rebecca Peress after her battle with an autoimmune disorder forced her to quit all processed sugar and begin a whole foods diet to recover her health. You can read more on her story HERE.

Swapples come in 4 varieties of flavors and can usually be found at Wegmans or Whole foods. Use the store locator on their website to find Swapples near you.

Pro Tip: For a super Saturday treat try a toasted Swapple with a serving of dairy free ice cream like Vanilla Cashewtopia or Nadamoo. You won't be disappointed :)

Blog post I found helpful - How to stop binge eating in 3 steps

Binge eating disorder (BED)

Common symptoms may present as:

(1) Feeling embarrassed about how much you are eating (often leading to 'closet eating').

(2) Feeling disgusted with yourself, depressed or very guilty afterward.

(3) Eating large amounts of food when not physically hungry.

Please read or share If you or anyone you know suffers from binge eating. I think this article is tremendously helpful.

A Quote I'm pondering:

"It is not the mountains we conquer, but ourselves" -
